The Kambo secretion is 100% safe to human beings as it contains 9 identical bioactive peptides (chain of amino acids that act as a function – like hormones) that are found in the human body. So, when the secretion enters the body, there is no stress to the cell.
It’s true that there have been accidents in the past and that people have died but the number is very small and the circumstances of these deaths have shown that Kambo should not have been given to them because of their pre-existing health conditions they did not disclose with a TRAINED practitioner. To ensure everyone’s safety, strict water guidelines given by the practitioner MUST be followed and people who are contraindicated should NOT be taking Kambo.
Please read the contraindications and ensure you have disclosed all health issues, medications and supplements to your practitioner.

No.
Neither the Frog secretion in toto nor its component peptides or neuropeptides are classified as mind-altering in any international legislature. On the other hand, it is a very powerful holistic treatment, and clients do from time to time experience “journeys”– as you might during shamanic journeying, meditation or yoga. This is usually a deep, reflective internal process.
You should not take Kambo if you are already pregnant. The flood of peptides introduced into your body with Kambo sparks powerful processes likely to interfere with the very delicate processes involved in pregnancy at any stage and therefore it is not recommended. However some women seek to kambo if they are infertile and wish to become pregnant.
Provided you do not pick at your points, the amount of scarring is largely down to your skin type, pigmentation and the location of the points. Delicate skin–e.g. on the inner forearm–tends to scar for longer than tougher areas–e.g. the outside upper arm.
If you continue to work with Kambo, the same points can be used within 2-3 months. For some, a neat set of Kambo points is a marque of pride and badge of honour. Others wish to keep any scars to a minimum. Vitamin E, lavender oil, cheap butter etc can be applied to minimize scarring. Talk to us before your treatment if you have any concerns (4ex. working around tattoos).
We hold our Kambo sessions first thing in the morning, partly so you don’t have to fast all day before your treatment (12 hours fast is required prior to treatment). Afterwards, your body needs to rest, as it is integrating the Kambo into its vital systems. You may feel tired, or even if you already feel full of energy, we advise taking the rest of the day off work, going home and taking it easy in order to give the Kambo time to do its thing.
The next day is where the main feeling of the treatment will be felt. You may have a spring in your step, increased positivity and clarity.
While it can be beneficial to receive multiple sessions, there is no evidence or research proving that it is necessary to receive three sessions in a moon cycle for efficacy. This concept came from the Caboclo people (persons of mixed Indigenous Brazilian and European ancestry.) It was purely marketing and perhaps convenience for them to promote this protocol. That being said, we’re happy to facilitate multiple treatments in a short period of time if there is a desire, as intuition is generally the best guide. This is not to discount or overlook the potency of just one single treatment.
The short answer is no.
The experience after receiving Kambo is completely dependent upon the individual. Most report feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and lighter. One thing to consider is what is known as the Herxheimer reaction. This simply means that sometimes one will feel worse before feeling better as things move through the system. Unless there is an existing chronic condition, it is unlikely that this effect can be foreseen, and the effect is not guaranteed.
Often, there is a burst of energy and drive. However, it is recommended to allow time after a session with no scheduled obligations or commitments (physical or mental), at least for the rest of the day, to allow time for integration and rest. The experience is not necessarily taxing, though it does require some physical stamina
It is advisable to eat a light, healthy diet of fresh, organic, unprocessed foods prior to a Kambo session, though it is not mandatory. It is also advisable to refrain from the use of stimulants such as caffeine before receiving Kambo. Hydration is important, and dehydration can increase discomfort during a session.
Keep your tissues hydrated but do not get on any juice/water/enema cleanses one week before your session (this is contraindicated and you will be asked to reschedule).
Kambo is sourced directly by the Matsés Tribe of Peru. The frogs are carefully tied by each leg with straw strings into an X shape. Sometimes the shaman will massage the toes to encourage the secretion which is then carefully scraped off and dried on small sticks. After it is released the frog returns to its habitat none the worse for wear. The strings leave a tiny white indentation line on each leg which stops anyone from harvesting the frog again until it has faded which takes 2-3 months as they need time to produce secretion to share as be able to defend themselves.
The frog is never harmed but treated with utmost care and respect as the people believe that to harm the frog will anger the animal spirits that they live so closely with. This is seen as 100% ethical.
The frogs are very passive and do not respond negatively when picked up. They climb down from the trees willingly when the natives call them through icaros songs and frog imitations. They are really friendly as they have no natural predators. If i snake tries to swallow them, they will eject it out from their mouth immediately. The only real danger are the oil & gas industries and destruction of their habitat which we donate towards in the matses project.
